As a Casual Library Assistant, you will be part of a small but ambitious Council, supporting our greatest asset – our community. The purpose of the role is to provide flexible and reliable working hours in a customer‑facing capacity. You will deliver friendly and helpful customer service to library customers of all ages, including assisting customers to access library resources, technology, and online platforms. An essential requirement is availability to work Tuesday and Thursday evenings and weekend customer service shifts when required. What You’ll Be Working On Your day-to-day will involve being rostered onto the customer service desk and providing a welcoming, positive experience for the library’s customers. This will include helping customers access library technology and online platforms, assisting customers to find library resources as well as keeping library spaces tidy through shelving library resources and shelf tidying. You may also be asked to assist with library events and programs and processing new library items. What You’ll Bring To The Role
- Higher School Certificate or equivalent
- Community focus with experience in customer service and good computer literacy skills
- Previous library experience and/or experience working with children (a plus)
- Flexibility to work shifts at short notice
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to manage your time effectively How To Apply
