We’re looking for a passionate, hands-on Head Chef to lead the kitchen at our venue in Richmond. This is an opportunity for an experienced Head Chef seeking a stable role with creative input, supportive ownership, and a positive team culture. We’re seeking someone who thrives in a fast-paced service environment while maintaining consistency, leadership, and high standards across every shift. About the Role As Head Chef, you will oversee the day-to-day kitchen operations, lead and mentor a small team, and drive a menu focused on fresh, seasonal, and approachable food. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with ownership and front-of-house management to deliver an excellent customer experience while maintaining strong food cost controls and kitchen standards. Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily kitchen operations across prep and service
- Manage, train, and motivate a small kitchen team
- Maintain high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation
- Develop seasonal menus, specials, and function offerings
- Manage stock ordering, supplier relationships, and inventory control
- Monitor food and labour costs to meet budget targets
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and WHS regulations
- Create efficient kitchen systems and workflows
- Maintain a clean, organised, and positive kitchen culture
- Work collaboratively with venue management to support business growth About You
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a busy restaurant
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Hands-on approach with a calm attitude during busy services
- Experience with rostering, ordering, and cost management
- Passion for fresh produce and well-executed food
- Excellent knowledge of food safety and kitchen compliance
- Ability to build a positive and motivated team environment
- Relevant trade qualifications preferred What We Offer
