German Inn in the heart of Hahndorf is seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join their kitchen team. This full time role is ideal for someone who is passionate about quality food, productive kitchen operations, and delivering an excellent dining experience.

About the Role

The Cook will support daily kitchen operations, ensuring meals are prepared to a high standard while maintaining food safety and consistency. You will work closely with the team to deliver dishes that reflect the venue’s authentic German inspired menu.

Key Responsibilities

• Checking ingredients and supplies to ensure freshness and suitability for use

• Managing the heat and operation of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment

• Preparing, cooking, and presenting a variety of dishes

• Adjusting flavours and seasoning throughout the cooking process

• Portioning meals, plating dishes, and adding sauces, gravies, and garnishes

• Storing food correctly in temperature controlled environments

• Preparing meals for customers with specific dietary needs

• Assisting with menu planning and estimating food quantities when required

• Supporting the training and guidance of junior kitchen staff and apprentices

Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum AQF Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification

• Minimum one year industry experience

• Robust understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene standards

• Ability to work efficiently in a quick paced kitchen setting

• Positive communication skills and a collaborative approach
