About our Organisation: Youth Off The Streets is a not‑for‑profit organisation that provides safety, support and opportunities for young people to build a positive future. Our services include crisis accommodation and housing support, alternative high school education, alcohol and other drugs counselling, youth justice programs, life skills and employment pathways, cultural support and community engagement. About the Role: Everyone’s potential deserves to be realised especially young people finding their way through tough moments. As a First Nations Case Worker, you will walk alongside young people aged 12–24, supporting them to build stability, strengthen cultural identity and make informed decisions about their future. You’ll provide short‑term case management (3–9 months), linking young people to the right services, coordinating supports and helping them set achievable goals. Your work will be culturally grounded, trauma‑informed and strengths‑based. You’ll build trust, advocate strongly, and ensure young people feel safe, respected and empowered throughout their journey. Base location is Western Sydney, with work occurring across multiple sites. What you'll do:
- Manage a caseload of young people within program timeframes
- Complete needs assessments and develop culturally appropriate case plans
- Provide information, advocacy, referrals and short‑term case coordination
- Link young people to services that meet their social, emotional, cultural and practical needs
- Facilitate group programs that build connection, skills and confidence
- Maintain accurate case notes, data and reporting
- Build solid relationships with local services, community organisations and government agencies
- Promote youth voice and participation in program development and community forums
- Work collaboratively with youth workers, case workers and specialist teams
- Identify when young people require referral to intensive case management
- Uphold child‑safe practices and contribute to a culturally safe environment
- Represent Youth Off The Streets professionally in all community and stakeholder interactions
What you'll bring:
- Identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- Experience working in youth work, SEWB, mental health, AOD, education, counselling or social services
- Understanding of case management principles and best practice
- Ability to apply trauma‑informed, developmentally‑informed and strengths‑based approaches
- Strong communication, advocacy and relationship‑building skills
- Ability to work respectfully with diverse cultural backgrounds
- Experience writing case notes, reports and maintaining accurate documentation
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including after‑hours outreach when required
- Understanding of child‑safe principles and adolescent development
- Ability to respond calmly and therapeutically in crisis situations
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
- Current NSW Driver Licence, Working With Children Check and Police Check
