Boilermaker (Mount Isa City)

ARC Staff on behalf of Resource Solutions Australia is seeking qualified Boilermakers to work in the Lead Smelter at Mount Isa Mines. Roster: 2:1 – 7x 12 hour shifts (168 hours every 3 weeks). Residential to Mount Isa; temporary accommodation will be supplied. Project duration: ongoing. Salary: $140,000.00 + super. Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate and weld structural and industrial components including frames, brackets, supports, gates, fixtures, pipework sections, and heavy steel elements.
- Perform welding using Manual Metal Arc (MMA), MIG/MAG, and TIG as required by material type and finish.
- Read and work from fabrication drawings, specifications, and site measurements to produce accurate outcomes.
- Carry out on‑site rectification and installation works where required to support project sequencing.
- Inspect welds for alignment, penetration, and finish; rectify defects to meet project quality expectations.
- Prepare weld areas and fabricated assemblies so they are suitable for subsequent surface preparation and protective coatings.
- Coordinate daily activities with project supervisors and site teams to ensure fabrication works align with live site programs.
- Maintain safe work practices and comply with relevant WHS requirements and site rules. Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3+ years proven experience in structural welding and metal fabrication within industrial, construction, or heavy fabrication environments.
- Demonstrated hands‑on capability across MMA, MIG/MAG, and TIG welding.
- Strong experience working with structural steel, pipework, frames, and heavy metal components, including fit‑up and installation‑ready fabrication.
- Proven ability to interpret drawings and execute work with minimal supervision.
- Solid understanding of welding quality control, inspections, and defect rectification in project environments.
- Ability to pass a welding test in 3G and 4G positions. Qualifications
- Trade qualification in Welding / Metal Fabrication / Boiler making or equivalent.
