Job Overview As a Biosecurity Officer (Technical Support) joining our Invasive Plants and Animals Science team you will:
- Drive the dissemination of invasive plant and animal technical and management information to stakeholders and land managers to improve biosecurity outcomes.
- Build trusted relationships with the Science team and stakeholders and collaborate with them to minimize the impact of invasive plants and animals on Queensland industry and environment. About Biosecurity Queensland Biosecurity Queensland (BQ) plays a leadership role in the biosecurity system in collaboration with its stakeholders. BQ leads the Queensland Government's efforts to protect our way of life, workplace, biodiversity, human and animal health, industries and economy from plant and animal pest and disease threats. Through supporting the collective efforts of our stakeholders and all Queenslanders, BQ will continue to protect our state and Australia from emerging plant and animal pests and diseases and effectively manage existing ones. Invasive Plants and Animals (IPA) significantly affect the environment, agricultural production, infrastructure, human health and our way of life. The IPA program directs, facilitates and delivers strategic and targeted action to reduce the impact of invasive species in Queensland. Key Responsibilities
- Work within the Invasive Plants & Animal Science team to deliver a broad extension, capacity building and adoption program that supports the dissemination of research outcomes to local government, industry and environmental land managers.
- Respond to and work with land managers, researchers and other stakeholders to improve invasive species management using best practice.
- Develop an extension program that uses a range of extension methodologies including one-on-one discussions, workshops and field days, eExtension networks and written materials.
