Senior Safety Advisor (Contract)
- Government Transformation Program Are you a hands‑on Senior Safety Advisor who thrives in complex environments and enjoys building practical, fit‑for‑purpose safety systems? We're partnering with a large government organisation undergoing a significant Safety Management System (SMS) transformation, and they’re seeking a high‑calibre contractor to play a key role in shaping and delivering this program. This is a rare opportunity to sit between strategy and delivery, working closely with senior leadership while remaining hands‑on in driving meaningful safety outcomes. About the Opportunity In this role, you'll support the review, redesign, and implementation of critical elements of the organisation's Safety Management System, helping to uplift capability and ensure alignment with legislative and regulatory standards. Working directly with a dedicated Safety Project Manager, you will:
- Lead the development and refinement of safety frameworks, policies, and procedures
- Translate OHS legislation and regulatory requirements into practical, operational solutions
- Drive the implementation of improved safety systems, assurance frameworks, and controls
- Engage with stakeholders across the business to embed sustainable safety practices
- Support audit, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives This role requires someone who can confidently move between high‑level planning and on‑the‑ground delivery. About You You are a confident and capable safety professional who brings:
- Proven experience as a Senior Safety Advisor / WHS professional within government, utilities, or infrastructure environments
- Solid working knowledge of OHS legislation, compliance frameworks, and ISO‑aligned safety systems (e.g. ISO45001)
- Demonstrated success in developing or improving Safety Management Systems (SMS)
- The ability to engage, influence, and build trust with stakeholders across all levels
- Experience in risk management, audits, incident investigations and assurance practices
- Strong written capability, particularly in developing policies, procedures, and system documentation You are pragmatic, solutions‑focused, and comfortable operating in evolving, project‑driven environments. Why Apply?
