What you'll be doing
- Working safely and calmly with livestock — husbandry, weighing, drafting, tagging, monitoring and trial data collection
- Supporting animal health checks and veterinary-related procedures under supervision
- Setting up, operating and maintaining farm technology used in trials (sensors, EID, weighing equipment, data loggers)
- Collecting accurate research data and following SOPs and trial protocols
- Operating farm machinery and equipment safely, where licensed and trained
- Keeping clean, well-organised records — livestock movements, treatments, trial data, inventory and equipment logs
- Travelling to other farms across Australia to assist with trials, equipment setup and producer engagement
- Interstate travel required on an as-needed basis. What you'll bring Essential
- Confidence handling livestock calmly and safely, particularly cattle or sheep
- Minimum 1-2 years of livestock handling experience required.
- Practical farm skills and willingness to learn machinery, equipment and research systems
- Genuine interest in animal health, livestock research, farm tech or veterinary support
- Robust attention to detail — neat records and accurate data really matter here
- Ability to follow instructions, protocols and SOPs carefully
- Basic computer skills (spreadsheets, email, digital data entry)
- Current driver's licence and willingness to travel for fieldwork
- Diploma-level qualification required for this position. Nice to have
- Experience in a farm, livestock, veterinary, agricultural or research setting
- Study or qualifications in agriculture, animal science, vet nursing, livestock production or farm tech
- Exposure to digital livestock systems, EID, sensors, GPS, data loggers or farm management software
- Chemical handling, first aid or relevant machinery tickets
