- $83,265 per annum + superannuation Lead Essential Civil Infrastructure Projects That Shape the Community Are you an experienced concreter or civil construction professional ready to step into a leadership role where you can make a real impact in the community? Council is seeking a hands-on Concrete Crew Leader to supervise a small operational crew delivering important infrastructure works including footpaths, kerb and gutter, stormwater drainage, roundabouts, culverts, and associated civil maintenance projects. This role combines practical construction work with crew leadership, project coordination, safety management, and quality control. You’ll be responsible for ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and to a high standard while fostering a positive team culture built on accountability, professionalism, and teamwork. This is a highly varied role suited to someone with strong concreting and drainage experience gained in professional civil construction environments. You’ll lead daily site activities, coordinate staff and contractors, support project planning and resource allocation, manage purchasing and basic budgets, and maintain accurate records and compliance documentation. The role also includes grave digging responsibilities as required, along with broader maintenance and civil works across Council assets and facilities. Working closely with long-standing Council crews and other operational teams, you’ll be part of a supportive and collaborative environment where teamwork and safety are highly valued. The successful candidate will bring demonstrated leadership capability, a strong understanding of WHS and risk management, and the ability to confidently manage changing priorities, deadlines, and site challenges while maintaining quality outcomes for the community. You will be a reliable and practical leader who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in delivering quality infrastructure, and can motivate and mentor others while leading from the front. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate a small concrete and drainage crew
- Deliver construction and maintenance works including:
- Kerb and gutter
- Footpaths
- Stormwater drainage
- Culverts and civil infrastructure
- Roundabouts and associated concrete works
- Supervise works to ensure safety, quality, and compliance standards are met
- Coordinate daily works programs, resources, and plant allocation
- Participate in hands-on construction activities alongside the crew
- Operate and oversee plant and equipment including excavators, skid steers, and backhoes
- Conduct toolbox talks, pre-starts, SWMS implementation, and risk assessments
- Support project planning, purchasing, quotes, and budget monitoring
- Liaise with other Council crews and operational teams
- Undertake grave digging and related operational duties as required This position is located in Dunedoo, the southern gateway to the Warrumbungle Region. Dunedoo is set amongst the rolling hills and valleys surrounding the Talbragar River, with quaint shops and cafes, a classic country pub, and the majestic beauty of Dunedoo's Silo Art which is part of the Australian Silo Art Trail. - Demonstrated experience in concrete and drainage works, including the construction and maintenance of kerbs, gutters, footpaths and stormwater drainage.
- Proven ability to lead, coordinate and supervise a small team, including mentoring and developing staff.
- Knowledge of and commitment to Work Health and Safety legislation, safe work practices, and quality standards.
- Competency in the safe and efficient operation of plant and equipment such as backhoes and skid steers.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage resources and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise with supervisors, colleagues, and the community.
- Current Class MR driver’s licence.
- WorkCover General Induction for Construction (White Card).
- Traffic Control qualifications, or ability to obtain
- highly regarded. It's a plus if you have a relevant trade or civil construction qualifications and experience with basic budget monitoring, purchasing and recordkeeping.
