Senior Lead Diesel Mechanic – Strathmerton Workshop Southern Refrigerated Transport (SRT) Full‑Time | $50/hr + Overtime | Southern Refrigerated Transport is expanding our Strathmerton workshop and we’re looking for a high‑level, hands‑on Senior Lead Diesel Mechanic to take charge of maintenance standards, guide the team, and keep our fleet running at peak reliability. This is a senior role for someone who knows transport, understands the pressure of keeping trucks on the road, and takes pride in doing things properly the first time. What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead and mentor mechanics and apprentices in daily workshop operations
- Perform advanced diagnostics on heavy vehicles, refrigeration units, electrical systems, and trailers
- Oversee scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, and major repairs
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
- Coordinate with operations to prioritise urgent repairs and minimise downtime
- Maintain accurate service records and contribute to continuous improvement
- Support the development of workshop processes, tooling, and maintenance planning
- Represent the workshop professionally when dealing with suppliers and service partners

- What We’re Looking For
- Trade‑qualified Diesel Mechanic (Cert III or equivalent)
- Solid experience with heavy vehicles, ideally in transport or logistics
- Proven ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical faults
- Leadership qualities — calm, organised, and able to guide others
- High attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes
- HR/HC licence (or willingness to obtain) is an advantage
