- Market-competitive salary and benefits package Murray Irrigation Limited (MIL) is searching for an experienced Senior Asset Officer to lead the management, integrity and continuous improvement of the organisation’s Asset Management System and Geographic Information System. Your work will enhance the quality of asset lifecycle decisions while reducing risk, and enabling more efficient, evidence‑based outcomes across the organisation. The Company & Values MIL is the largest private irrigation water delivery company in Australia, formed as an unlisted public company in March 1995 when the NSW Government privatised its Murray Irrigation area and districts. The company's irrigators are also shareholders and include 2,100 landholdings across 724,000 hectares in the Southern Riverina. MIL is located in southern NSW and uses approximately 2,755km of gravity-fed earthen channels to deliver a five-year average of 728GL to their landholders, through efficient management of their NSW Murray Regulated River Water Access Licences (WALs). Head office is in Deniliquin with branch offices in Finley and Wakool. Farm businesses in the area predominately include rice, cereals, wheat, canola, annual pasture, dairy, wool, beef and lamb, with an average gross value agriculture production of $500 million. For more details please visit: About the role Reporting to the Strategic Asset Manager, this role provides the successful candidate with flexible working options, including onsite, remote, or hybrid arrangements. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Lead the organisation’s GIS and asset data functions, driving the integrity, accuracy, and strategic use of spatial data.
- Provide leadership over the management, enhancement, and governance of AMS and GIS systems to ensure high availability and data quality.
- Lead data system improvements, including upgrades and integrations, to support and enhance organisational capability.
- Drive asset data collection programs and delivering advanced spatial analysis and mapping services that underpin strategic decision-making across the organisation.
- Provide expert technical guidance and onsite support across field teams and business units, and
- Act as the technical authority on GIS and asset data matters, providing strategic advice to Water Delivery and other business units Skills & Experience The ideal candidate will be a highly organised, analytical professional with strong asset management expertise, experienced in system governance, lifecycle planning and compliance. To be successful in this role, you will have the following experience and attributes:
- Extensive demonstrated knowledge and experience in asset management
- Significant experience with enterprise data management systems, including system administration, configuration, and continuous improvement.
- Advanced skills in spatial data analysis and management
- Tertiary qualifications in GIS, Surveying and Spatial Science, or a related field (or similar), combined with substantial demonstrated experience in a senior or specialist GIS role.
- Extensive experience in the operations, administration, and strategic customisation of a large enterprise GIS
- Advanced and demonstrated knowledge of the full ESRI product suite (ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, ESRI Web Apps, Field Maps, Survey123)
- Demonstrated expertise in designing, managing, and continuously improving field apps, data collection workflows, and user experiences for diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong project leadership and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, exercise sound judgement, and identify and implement improvements.
- Current drivers licence.
- Desirable: Irrigation/water infrastructure knowledge, experience in agribusiness and experience with computer system administration and management.
