**Highlighting the importance of this role**
This is an exciting opportunity for a Youth Support Worker to join our team in Nambour. You will be at the forefront of our up-and-coming ‘Conscious living’ program, guiding individuals on their life journey with empathy and understanding. You'll help them gain independence, enhance social skills, pursue education, and achieve their unique goals. Your role will involve a mix of one-on-one mentoring and group activities, focusing on developing life skills in line with their aspirations.
Your confidence and creativity will enable you to foster client relationships and contribute to the success of this program. No two days will be the same as you embark on this transformational journey with young people, teaching and empowering them to live with independence, celebrate their differences and find their value in the community.
As you guide participants through each phase of the program, some of your responsibilities may include:
- Facilitating engaging sessions focused on conscious living principles, including meditation, mindful discussions, and practical life skills.
- Supporting participants in exploring topics such as budgeting, sustainable living, health choices, relationships, and personal growth.
- Providing guidance on practical tasks such as cooking, cleaning, yard maintenance, and resume writing, enabling participants to develop essential life skills.
- Fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where participants feel valued, empowered, and connected to their community.
- Utilising creative and interactive approaches, including art therapy and board games, to facilitate self-discovery and personal growth.
- Collaborating with program coordinators and other team members to ensure the smooth implementation of the program and the well-being of participants.
**What you can bring to the team**
- Relevant qualifications in Youth Work, Community Services or Disability, or relevant experience is essential.
- Experience facilitating group activities and projects in a community setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with young individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Passion for personal development, mindfulness, and empowering others to reach their full potential.
- Flexibility, patience, and resilience in supporting participants through challenges and setbacks.
- Commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment where participants feel heard, respected, and supported.
**What clearances/checks do you need?**
- Hold or be willing to obtain a **Working with Children Check (Blue Card) **& a** NDIS Worker Screening Check **(previously a Yellow Card)
- Hold or be willing to obtain a **First Aid** and **CPR** certificate
- Willing to undertake a **“Fit2Work” National Criminal History Check** (should you be successful)
- Open **Driver's **License with comprehensive insurance to transfer participants into the community
