Early Childhood Educator (Woombye)

WCK is located in the main street of beautiful Woombye on the Sunshine coast, in a boutique old Queenslander with large natural setting. We are a small family long day care and Kindergarten service, owned and operated since 1989. We are proud to be at the forefront of contemporary practices, moving away from traditional practices in childcare. Inspired by the principles of Reggio Emilia approach, where the setting is the “3rd teacher’, learning is visible” and the expressive language of children.

We have a strong focus on nature based play, offering children beautiful, innovative natural outdoor settings where children play amongst the trees, gardens, sand pits, outdoor kitchen, tool shed and mud pits. Our Kindergarten attend nature education and play programs including farm and bush kinda. We have an equally strong focus on the visual arts, offering children an authentic art studio with clay wheel and authentic art materials, a dance studio space with grand piano, a large library and dramatic play space. We are aware of current research on the value and benefits of STEM and offer a huge loose parts space, with IT equipment. We are lucky to be positioned in the main Street of Woombye, which enables our Kindergarten to attend regular excursions to local parks, community garden and the local primary school. We recognise the importance of professional development and provide ongoing in-service training.

We are looking for a educator who is equally as passionate abut these important areas in our curriculum, including a love of outdoors, and strong interests in the arts and STEM.
