Assistant Watchhouse Officer City Of Gold Coast, City of Gold Coast

Queensland Police Service provides places of detention across the state, housing persons in police custody who have been denied bail, are awaiting court appearances, or are remanded or sentenced until transfer to a youth detention or correctional facility.

This role involves 24‑hour rotational shift work, including afternoon, night, weekend, and public holiday shifts. Shift penalties are applied in addition to the base wage.

Key Accountabilities

Perform Watchhouse functions related to the administration, supervision, and monitoring of persons in custody and visitors to the Watchhouse.

Prepare and maintain prisoner files and records.

Operate and monitor electronic surveillance and movement control systems in accordance with established procedures.

Maintain Watchhouse records in line with QPS policy and procedure.

Assist in the processing of persons received into custody in line with QPS policy and procedures.

Supervise and provide for the welfare, comfort, and security of prisoners.

Prepare and maintain records of prisoners' health requirements; monitor medical needs and arrange appropriate medical assistance as required.

Assist senior staff with issues impacting on the overall operational management of the Watchhouse.

Role Requirements

Possession of an open C‑class driver license.

This position requires wearing an Assistant Watchhouse Officer uniform and adhering to the QPS Code of Dress and Appearance.

The role requires a 24‑hour, 7‑day shift work rotational roster.
