Position As an Apprentice Painter/Furniture Finisher, you will learn from our master painter/polisher, an industry expert with a wealth of experience. You will be immersed in a hands‑on learning setting, honing your skills and techniques to achieve the highest standards of furniture finishing. Your journey with us will encompass a diverse range of projects, including high‑end residential fit‑outs, architectural joinery, marine fit‑outs, bespoke furniture, and aviation projects. We see this role as a “blank canvas” opportunity. Experience is not essential – we prefer to train someone from the ground up with the right habits and approach. What matters most is reliability, a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, a positive attitude, listening, and pride in your work. Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with our master painter/polisher to develop expertise in furniture finishing techniques.
- Prepare surfaces for painting.
- Apply stains, paints, varnishes, and other finishes to furniture and joinery pieces.
- Learn to match colours and finishes accurately to achieve desired aesthetic outcomes.
- Assist in quality control and inspection of finished products to ensure adherence to Workshop 28’s uncompromising standards.
- Collaborate with a dynamic team of craftsmen, designers, and artisans to contribute to the creation of stunning and bespoke pieces. About You
- Enthusiastic and passionate about pursuing a career in furniture finishing and painting.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering impeccable results.
- Excellent communication skills and a positive, collaborative attitude.
- Ability to take direction and follow established procedures while displaying a willingness to learn and improve.
- Physical dexterity and the ability to work with a variety of tools and equipment.
- Must demonstrate excellent punctuality and reliability.
- Must be 16 years of age or older, and hold permanent resident status in Australia.
