Operations Manager — Electrical & Panel Manufacturing Heavy Duty Controls & Electrical | Yatala QLD | Full-time | $110,000 – $125,000 + Quarterly Performance Bonus + Company Vehicle Heavy Duty Controls & Electrical is an electrical contracting and custom manufacturing business based in Yatala, specialising in control panels and electrical harness fabrication. We supply work that matters — built to spec, on time, and done right the first time. We are a growing business and we are looking for the right person to own our operations. This is a hands‑on leadership role with direct access to the business owners and genuine scope to shape how the business runs. HDC operates a full ERP/MRP platform with completed bills of materials, structured warehousing, WHS and quality systems, and clean financial reporting. The infrastructure is in place — what we're looking for is the right person to drive it. The Role Reporting directly to the owners, you will have full accountability for day‑to‑day operations — safety, quality, delivery, cost, and the people responsible for delivering all four. This is not a coordination role. You will set the standard, hold it, and build a culture where it is expected.
- Safety: lead safety, run toolbox talks, investigate incidents, close hazards, and build an workplace where right behaviour is the default.
- Quality and delivery: own defect rates, rework, and on‑time delivery; jobs leave when they were promised.
- Gross margin: understand cost of goods at the job level—parts and labour, identify where margin is lost and act on it.
- People: hiring, onboarding, performance management, and development.
- Business development: contribute where relevant (not a primary focus). The Hours
- Monday to Thursday, 6:00 am – 2:30 pm.
- Friday, 6:00 am – 12:30 pm. What We Are Looking For
- Led operations or production in a trade, manufacturing, or electrical environment.
- Comfortable making decisions without a policy manual and can be self‑managed.
- Hold safety as a personal standard, not a compliance obligation.
- Current Queensland Electrical Contractor's Licence highly regarded; ECL holders considered at upper end of salary range.
- Must understand what it means to build physical product to a standard and get it out the door on time.
- Experience with custom‑engineered control panels, industrial switchboards and electrical harness assemblies is desirable. The Package
- Base salary: $110,000 – $125,000 (negotiable for current ECL holders).
- Quarterly performance bonus: up to 10 % of base, paid against gross margin, on‑time delivery and safety outcomes.
- Company vehicle for business use, with fuel card.
