About Gilmour Space Gilmour Space is the leading Australian rocket company pioneering next‑generation hybrid propulsion technologies for small satellite launch vehicles. Role: Senior Electrical Engineer We are seeking a senior engineer who will design, develop, test and operate complex electrical systems for launch vehicles and satellite products. Key Responsibilities
- Teach and work alongside a team of engineers by developing complex power, electrical and control systems.
- Serve as a Responsible Engineer for Electrical products, conducting technical assessments such as concept studies, trade studies and COTS solution analyses.
- Act as Technical Authority on behalf of the Chief Engineer as requested.
- Lead small product teams on a quarterly basis and contribute to the development of software engineering designs, processes and activities.
- Follow and participate in product development processes including requirements definition, design, verification and validation.
- Support unit and integration testing, operational troubleshooting and issue resolution, with potential travel to remote sites.
- Support architecture development, technology strategy and execution of the Electrical team.
- Engage in R&D; initiatives and support electrical engineering production activities for Launch Vehicle and Satellite product lines.
- Supervise and authorise a range of complex test activities to required policies and standards.
- Coordinate with Mechanical, Propulsion, Manufacturing and Production teams, as well as external suppliers and stakeholders.
- Ensure that all engineering activities adhere to company policies, plans and procedures. Mandatory Qualifications
- NER / RPEQ / CPEng or ability to obtain.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years of demonstrated expertise with the design, analysis, development, test and operation of Electrical Engineering.
- 2+ years of experience designing complex electrical wiring interconnect systems.
- Working knowledge of standards such as SMC-S-020, WHMA-620D, or AS50881H.
- Proficiency with CAD (NX or similar).
- Experience managing projects including schedule and work package management.
- NV1 Security Clearance eligible.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment, demonstrating resilience in high‑stress situations and a supportive approach with team members. Desired Qualifications
- Experience designing products for high criticality applications such as aerospace, automotive, defence, medical, mining or transport.
- Advanced manufacturing experience.
- Conformance to standards testing experience.
- Well‑developed communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution skills.
- Proven ability to prioritise and manage work demands and deliver outcomes.
- Systems Engineering process knowledge and experience.
- Multi‑disciplinary engineering qualifications or experience like mechanical, software or RF engineering.
