Landscape Leading Hand (Newcastle)

Godfrey Landscaping is searching for an experienced landscaper to lead the team. Your role as leading hand will be to work alongside and lead the crew on site and manage day to day operations. You will need the ability to work to timeframes and deadlines, a commitment to quality, effective problem-solving skills, safety, strong work ethic and effective communication skills.

Our team covers all aspects of landscaping, land preparation & softscaping (turf/planting), from start to finish and take great pride in delivering the highest quality end products for our clients. **Duties and responsibilities as leading hand**: The leading hand is expected to work alongside their team and is responsible for quality and standard of work performed, including productivity. You will be required to provide on-the-job training and guidance, quality control/assurance procedures, including recognising and correcting deviations and/or faults. Managing day-to-day operations on site, you will ensure your team is meeting time-frame and production expectations, trouble-shooting on-site related issues and reporting to management. Communication is key, and a vital part of your role will be to communicate with management, your team, other trades on-site and suppliers to ensure daily operations run smoothly and effectively.

**You will work with the team to**:

- Promote a positive work environment
- Construct soft and hard landscapes on a wide variety of building sites
- Residential/ commercial landscaping from start to handover
- Operating machines for land preparation
- Installing turf, plants, mulch, jute mat, edging & more
- Experience in landscape sector and/or qualifications (landscape or horticulture)
- Experience as leading hand
- Excellent communication skills
- Current white card
- Valid driver’s license (essential), MR license (desirable)
- Not afraid to get dirty
- A positive can-do attitude
- High level of physical fitness
- Ability to conduct work at a high standard
- Ability to lead a team and meet performance expectations
