For this role, you must:
- Be at least 17 at the time of enlistment and an Australian Citizen.
- If you are not an Australian Citizen you may still be eligible to join the ADF if you meet certain criteria, please visit the ADF Careers Eligibility Page for more details
- Be reasonably fit and healthy. Keeping fit is a big part of joining the ADF. You’ll need to pass a physical fitness test before you join, but don’t worry, we'll give you tips to help you prepare.
- Be able to successfully obtain a security clearance. For the specific roles, you must:
- Chaplain: Have a Bachelor level degree in one of the endorsed fields listed in the full position description linked below, ordination evidence and at least 2 years pastoral ministry experience.
- Doctor: Have a Bachelor level degree in medicine, completed a hospital internship, be registered as a medical practitioner, and have 6 months recognised experience in general practice.
- Psychologist: Be registered as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and currently working as a Psychologist with a civilian employer.
