- Counsellor -Child Healing Practitioner (Female)
- Counsellor – Child Healing Practitioner (Male) The Counsellors assists children, young people, and adults in recovering from the harmful impacts of trauma and assists families and communities to support children and young people in the healing process. They will be responsible for ensuring the provision of professional child/young people, adult and family counselling services in consultation with the Youth Program Coordinator. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide culturally safe, trauma‑informed counselling
- Manage a counselling caseload in line with program targets
- Maintain accurate records and data reporting
- Participate in supervision and ongoing professional development
- Support delivery of psycho‑education and group programs
- Travel for outreach counselling as required
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders
- Contribute to service promotion and quality improvement About You To be considered for this position, you must have:
- Strong knowledge of Aboriginal culture, values, and issues impacting children, young people, and families
- Understanding of trauma, including child sexual abuse, domestic violence, and grief/loss
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or similar (or Diploma/Certificate with significant experience). Aboriginal applicants strongly encouraged
- Experience providing therapeutic support to children, young people, adults, and families
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and external stakeholders
- Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and basic computer skills The position involves working with a multicultural organisation where the majority of staff, clients and stakeholders identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. PAMS aims to improve the standard of health of the Martu people and all Aboriginal people living in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia through the provision of community based, comprehensive primary health care services. We exist to promote the health and well-being of individual community members and to relieve sickness and the suffering of the indigenous community as a whole. We are passionate about providing the highest standard of patient care whilst incorporating a holistic approach toward diagnosis and management of illness.
