Color Guard Advisor for ********* School Year JobID: 655 Date Posted: 5/1/2026 Location: Cambridge High School Closing Date: 05/07/2026 Job Title: Color Guard Advisor Reports To: Building Principal Employment Status: Supplemental Job Summary The Color Guard Advisor is responsible for instructing, training, and supervising the color guard team, which performs alongside the marching band at athletic events, competitions, and parades. The advisor works closely with the Band Director to coordinate routines, maintain student discipline, and promote teamwork and school spirit. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan, choreograph, and teach routines involving flags, rifles, sabers, and dance in coordination with the marching band. Organize and conduct regular practices, including summer camps, after-school rehearsals, and weekend sessions as needed. Supervise color guard members during all performances, practices, and travel events. Ensure student safety and maintain appropriate behavior during all activities. Collaborate with the Band Director on performance schedules, uniform requirements, and overall show design. Maintain and inventory all color guard equipment and uniforms. Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful team setting. Communicate with students, parents, and school administration regarding schedules, expectations, and performance details. Attend all relevant staff meetings, trainings, and booster events as required. Follow all district policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in dance, music, or education preferred. Prior experience in color guard, dance instruction, or related performance preferred. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel. Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and community members. Working Conditions Work is performed in a variety of settings including school buildings, athletic fields, and off-site performance venues. Requires physical activity, including lifting equipment, standing for extended periods, and active participation in rehearsals.
