2D FX Designer -, Rosebery

Flying Bark Productions are looking for a 2D FX Designer to work in our Sydney studio.

The 2D FX Designer will work with the Art Director and the Director/s to explore design concepts for FX for the project, which may include designing, Animating, cleaning up, colouring and adapting FX that fit within the creative direction for the production and will work for the production. The 2D FX Designer is responsible for designing and animating the visual effects in the Program/s, with a focus on explosions, smoke, flames, electricity, stylised magic and other elemental effects. Additionally working to, and maintaining, the creative and technical requirements for the effects for the Program/s as required by the VFX Supervisor/s; and to the production schedule provided by the Production Company.

Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Art Director to design and develop a visual style for the FX on the production.
To produce scene specific and/or reusable frame-by-frame effects animation for the Program/s that fulfils the creative style of the project as advised by the VFX Supervisor/s;
Work within a hybrid animation pipeline, designing and animating 2D FX that integrate effectively with CG animation, lighting, and compositing workflows while maintaining the artistic integrity of the show’s visual style.
Work to quotas and deadlines as briefed by the Production crew;
Work closely with the Animation Artists and Compositors to deliver effects that integrate seamlessly into the scenes;
Completion of creative revisions as requested by the VFX Supervisor/s and Animation Lead/s;
Adhere to the work flow structure of the project as requested by the VFX Supervisor/s;
Work cohesively within a team environment and ensuring high levels of communication at all times;
Adhere to the administrative tools used for tracking workflow, input and delivery/output of shots;
Strong communication and ability to work to a verbal or visual brief, flagging in advance any issues that may impact on successful timely delivery of material or shots to Production and the Supervising crew;
And all other duties and responsibilities as reasonably required by the Production Company.

Skillset:
Solid experience with effects animation in a 2D animation environment;
Solid experience and understanding of Toon Boom Harmony, After Effects and other effects software in a production based environment;
Solid knowledge of 2D animation workflows;
Excellent communication skills and willingness to share information in a team environment;
Passion for animation.

Salary range: $90,000 - $93,600 p.a.
