About the Role Formed in 1882, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. It remains one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities. The SLHD Workers Compensation Claims Manager position establishes and maintains a SLHD wide strategic direction for the management of workplace injuries and workers compensation claims. The position reports to the Director, Injury Management and Staff Wellbeing. The Workers Compensation Claims Manager is responsible for ensuring SLHD deliver high quality injury and claims management services that support workers and ensures that SLHD’s meets its legislative obligations. The role manages the workers compensation claims administration team, along with managing workers compensation claims litigation on behalf of SLHD, and provides District wide oversight of injury management and workers compensation performance. - Extensive experience working in workers compensation and/or recovery at work injury management including extensive working knowledge of NSW Workers Compensation legislation and State Insurance Regulatory Authority Guidelines for Workplace Return to Work Programs.
- Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience in an allied health, other health related discipline or law (e.g. Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Exercise Physiology, Rehabilitation Counselling, Nursing).
- Commercially focused approach with a strong understanding insurance terms and financial performance with the ability to assess cost implication and manage financial aspects of injury and claim management.
- Proven ability to direct and coordinate complex liability and legal matters related to injury claims, including interpreting legal advice, reviewing medico-legal documentation, liaising with solicitors and external legal representatives, and providing expert recommendations and advice on all aspects of workers compensation and injury management.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities effectively with experience in the use of Solv Injury or similar injury management databases, as well as HealthRoster, Stafflink and Qlik Sense reporting and analytics.
- Proven working knowledge of the operations of NSW Treasury Managed Fund would be an advantage. Benefits and Perks!
