This role will play a key part in shaping and delivering projects, including potential initiatives such as an in‑vessel composting (IVC) facility and upgrades to Council’s waste and resource recovery infrastructure. You will contribute to the delivery of Council’s Waste Plan and work on projects that make a tangible difference to how facilities function, delivering lasting benefits for the environment and the community. - 11:59pm (AEST) Sunday 7 June 2026 About You This is a varied role suited to someone with solid project management capability and a practical, process-focused mindset. You may come from a project management, plant, maintenance or operational background and enjoy working at the interface between operations and project delivery — helping translate on-site needs into clear project scopes and overseeing consultants through design and delivery. We are particularly interested in candidates with exposure to organics processing or in‑vessel composting (IVC) systems, or similar processing environments. This could include experience gained through operations, supervision, project work or related roles. We welcome applicants who bring transferable skills and experience from adjacent industries and environments. Key Responsibilities Working within the Waste branch, this role manages projects across the capital works program, including planning, procurement, contract management and stakeholder engagement. You will work closely with Council’s operational teams and external consultants to ensure projects are fit-for-purpose, integrate smoothly with existing facilities, and appropriately consider operational, maintenance and safety requirements.
- Manage and deliver waste infrastructure projects from planning through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to quality standards.
- Lead all aspects of project delivery, including scoping, procurement, contractor management, financial administration and risk management.
- Coordinate with internal teams, government agencies, consultants and stakeholders to ensure effective project planning, communication and compliance with statutory requirements.
- Develop and maintain project management plans, monitor performance, and provide reporting and advice to support informed decision‑making.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of organics processing infrastructure, including composting and potential IVC-related projects. Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience managing infrastructure or capital works projects, ideally within waste, civil or environmental sectors.
- Exposure to organics processing, composting operations or in‑vessel composting (IVC) systems is highly desirable
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, delivering outcomes on time, within budget and to quality standards.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage risks, resolve issues and make sound decisions in complex environments.
- Well‑developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working collaboratively with contractors, consultants and internal teams. Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience through practical roles such as plant operation, site supervision, facility management or infrastructure project delivery.
- Current C Class driver licence.
- Membership, or ability to obtain membership, with a relevant professional body such as Engineers Australia or the Australian Institute of Project Management (desirable). Work where others Holiday.
