ABOUT THE ROLE We’re seeking a Menswear Designer on a 6-12-month parental leave contract to join our team! You’ll play a key role in creating and executing the design direction for our menswear and custom uniforms categories. Key responsibilities include:
- Designing product from concept phase through to production.
- Leading trend research with a commercial, customer facing lens.
- Creation of range boards, flow boards and updated visuals for range review meetings.
- Delivering our brand vision through the creation of original artwork using CAD & illustration.
- Design and develop current styles to inject into the product range, including sourcing new fabrics and trims.
- Lead a technical designer to create accurate "design packs" with specifications for styles that can be handed to garment vendors and sourcing partners. Please note, you will be required to submit a low-resolution folio of your work as part of your application to be considered for this role. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Tertiary education in design or equivalent industry experience
- 4-6+ years’ experience in a design or product development role
- Advanced understanding of the market, customer segmentation, trends, and competitive landscape.
- Proven ability to interpret trends for Australian workwear/menswear market
- Strong understanding of construction methods and garment finishing, and strong knowledge of fabric finishes, treatments, washes, weights, and fabric properties.
- High proficiency using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign.
- Retail, financial and business acumen.
- Experience working for a medium size retailer a benefit.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, working closely with QA and product teams.
