About the role
As a Payroll Officer, the role is as follows: processing fortnightly and monthly payroll, manual checking of data, applying required adjustments to payroll at the centre. Maintaining payroll systems and data records for the Payroll Metrics system or other system as applicable, including employee master files, leave management, register maintenance, sickness and overtime reports, contracts, awards, employee records, and all other associated records.
Key responsibilities Ensure accurate processing of all payroll transactions in accordance with the procedures Verify working hours and pay rates according to legislative and contract requirements Handle any issues regarding employee wage payments and resolve payroll discrepancies Track employee absences and record accordingly Familiarise and comply with all legislation, regulations, Company policies, procedures and standards (and any amendments which may be made from time to time) applicable to your position
Key requirements 2+ years in a similar role as a Payroll Officer Experience in accounting, bookkeeping or payroll processing (desirable) Experience with salaried and wages payroll for employees (advantageous) Demonstrated experience in computerised processing with a high degree of accuracy Demonstrated experience with computer software applications, including spreadsheets and word processing Ability to work under pressure and develop work strategies to achieve deadlines Ability to exercise discretion and maintain strict confidentiality on all matters
