The Network Management Services Directorate sits within the Road and Marine Services Division and provides an end-to-end traffic management service and control centre to optimise the effectiveness of our road network.
**The Opportunity** The Traffic Response Officer contributes to a robust traffic incident management process which assists with the achievement of Network Management Services, Corporate and Government objectives and goals.
Undertakes observation, investigation, education and enforcement of temporary traffic management standards. This includes the compliance of permits for roadworks and the preparation of documentation for enforcement and prosecution. The role provides a continued presence on the road network.
Provides logístical assistance to the Traffic Management Centre to help identify reasons for congestion. This includes making real time decisions to improve traffic flow in emergency situations.
Represents the Department at major incidents and events, liaising with emergency services onsite and managing traffic diversions. Assists as directed in the delivery of Community Events.
Maintains, deploys and retrieves departmental trailer-based assets, including data retrieval.

**Requirements**: This role requires successful completion of Workzone Traffic Management, Non-Practitioner post engagement.
Current drivers licence.
**Special Conditions**
- A National Police Check (NPC) which is required to be renewed every three years.
- A Department for Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check (WWCC) which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
Work outside of normal hours will be required as the role requires being on-call for response to emergencies for one (1) week durations in a rostered rotation with other employees, spread at equal intervals. While on call the appointee must be immediately contactable 24 hours a day, fit to drive and be available to respond to emergency notifications and/or report to the Traffic Management Centre on receipt of a call or page.
**Tenure of Vacancy** Temporary appointment up to 12 months
**Remuneration** ASO3
- $67,589 to $72,033 per annum
