Mitcham Private Hospital is a fully accredited, 121 bed acute medical, surgical, maternity and mental health facility, providing for the healthcare needs of Melbourne’s outer eastern communities. Mitcham Private Hospital is now hiring! An exciting opportunity has become available for enthusiastic, reliable, and customer-focused CSSD Technicians to join our friendly team on a casual basis. In this role you will:
- Assist in the cleaning, assembly, inspection, wrapping, and sterilisation of surgical instruments and medical equipment for both clinical departments and external customers
- Work in conjunction with Operating Theatre staff to provide timely sterile products, trays, and equipment
- Work efficiently with your team to manage pressing deadlines
- Assist with the transport, delivery, and receipt of sterile and contaminated Reusable Medical Devices (RMDs) between Hub and Spoke sites
- Support the coordination, dispatch, and receipt of loan instrument sets
- Safely load, unload, and manoeuvre transport carts and case carts in accordance with workplace manual handling procedures
- Operate across both reprocessing and transport support functions as required
- Undertake manual handling tasks including the safe manoeuvring, loading, and unloading of wheeled transport carts and case carts (Approx. 98Kg) in accordance with workplace safety procedures and approved manual handling practices, while working in a physically active environment involving prolonged standing, walking, and movement throughout shifts. You will be a critical part of the surgical process, and your ability to thrive in a fast-paced workplace will see you succeed. Key Skills and Experience To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- A positive outlook and ability to collaborate effectively within a team
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and time management skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Current valid Australian driver’s licence with a demonstrated safe driving history and the ability to safely operate hospital transport vehicles, including vans and larger transport vehicles, between sites.
- Ability to work across multiple hospital sites as operationally required
- Demonstrated ability to work safely in a fast-paced transport and reprocessing environment
- Previous CSSD, hospital logistics, or transport support experience highly regarded Availability Requirements
- Availability to work Monday through Saturday
- Morning shifts start at 07:00hrs, Afternoon and evening shifts commencing from 13:00 and finishing as late as 01:30hrs (if required)
