Flexible Part-Time Opportunity | Community-Based Hybrid Role | Local Impact DACSSA is seeking a skilled and locally connected Independent Disability Advocate to support people with disability across the Murraylands region. This adaptable, community-based hybrid role combines home-based work with local outreach and advocacy support to assist people with disability to uphold their rights, navigate complex systems, and achieve meaningful outcomes. Applicants should reside within the Murraylands region (or immediate surrounding area). About DACSSA DACSSA is a well-established independent advocacy organisation supporting people with disability across South Australia. We advocate for inclusion, equality, choice and social justice and are recognised as a leader in independent disability advocacy. About the Role Join our dynamic, supportive and values-driven team working across:
- the National Disability Advocacy Program (NDAP)
- the NDIS Appeals program This role involves supporting people with disability, families and carers through:
- advocacy and rights-based support
- navigating disability and mainstream systems
- NDIS review and appeals processes
- engagement with government and community service providers
- person-centred and trauma-informed practice About You We are looking for someone who demonstrates: ✔ understanding of disability, human rights and advocacy ✔ strong communication and relationship-building skills ✔ ability to work independently and manage competing priorities ✔ commitment to inclusion, choice and social justice ✔ sound judgement, professionalism and integrity ✔ experience in community services, disability, advocacy or related sectors ✔ confidence engaging with government and community service systems ✔ well-developed written communication and case documentation skills Qualifications & Experience Relevant qualifications in community services, social work, human services, disability, psychology, law or related fields are highly desirable. Experience in advocacy, disability services, case management, community development or related sectors will be highly regarded. Essential Requirements
- Current residence within the Murraylands region (or immediate surrounding area), with demonstrated local community knowledge and understanding of regional service systems.
- Capacity and willingness to undertake regular face-to-face outreach, community engagement and advocacy support across the region.
- Ability to work independently within a flexible home-based environment while maintaining strong local community presence and responsiveness.
- Current driver’s licence and/or ability to travel locally within the region as required.
- National Police Check and relevant screening clearances, or willingness to obtain.
- Willingness to obtain a Working With Children Check What We Offer
