Estimator | Engineering & Fabrication (Office-based role)

Location: Orange, NSW | Permanent Full-Time

Hort Enterprises is seeking a dedicated and detail‐oriented Estimator to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and competitiveness of our project bids, providing high‐level cost planning and evaluation from initial inquiry through to tender settlement.

As an Estimator, you will bridge the gap between technical requirements and financial viability, working closely with management and fabrication teams to deliver exact results.

The Role

Reporting to the Estimating Manager, you will be the bridge between our clients and our technical departments. You won't just be crunching numbers; you'll be analysing scopes, conducting site inspections, and reviewing project execution to ensure we stay ahead of the curve.

What you'll do

Analyse drawings and specifications to estimate man‐hours, materials, and specialised services.

Conduct site inspections to get a hands‐on understanding of client requirements.

Collaborate with Department Managers and Engineers to build accurate quotes.

Review \"actual vs. planned\" costings to refine future bids.

Maintain strong relationships with our network of suppliers and subcontractors.

What you bring

Industry Experience:

A background in engineering, fabrication, or mechanical services—specifically involving structural steel, piping, or plate work.

Technical Literacy:

Ability to interpret complex drawings and scopes. Experience with MS Project is a major plus.

Commercial Acumen:

Solid analytical skills and an eye for cost‐accuracy.

Communication:

The ability to negotiate with suppliers and build trust with clients.
