Dam Instrumentation Superintendent
14:9 Roster | Site-Based | Supportive Leadership Role Our client is seeking a team-oriented and people-focused Dam Instrumentation Superintendent to guide a dedicated team responsible for monitoring the structural performance of a major tailings and dam asset. This is a site-based position on a 14:9 days-only roster , working back-to-back with another superintendent who brings deep familiarity with the operation. This role suits someone who combines strong technical capability with an approachable, inclusive leadership style

- Support and coordinate a team of seven (primarily contractors) in the safe, effective installation, commissioning, setup, and ongoing data collection for the sites instrumentation network.
- Build constructive working relationships with operational teams, including RTFE leadership, and help maintain the positive momentum already established.
- Work closely with business and project teams to ensure monitoring information is understood, interpreted appropriately, and shared in a clear, timely manner.
- Review instrument data to identify trends, anomalies, seismic responses, or trigger movements, and contribute to well‑informed decisions.
- When seismic events or trigger thresholds occur, help guide:
- The response steps to be taken
- Safety considerations for people working behind the dam wall
- Communication with stakeholders in a calm, clear, and practical manner
- Partner with a team member stepping into superintendent-level responsibilities, offering support, knowledge‑sharing, and steady leadership presence. What You Bring
- Background in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, geomechanics , or hands‑on experience with instrumentation in dam, tailings, or mining environments.
- A collaborative, supportive approach to leading people

- Experience working with surface‑based monitoring systems such as:
- Inclinometers, piezometers, extensometers
- VWPs, prisms, tilt meters, survey targets
- Data loggers and automated monitoring systems
- Radar (ground‑based & Doppler), InSAR, or microseismic platforms
- Confidence in interpreting monitoring data and applying structured thinking to inform decisions in high‑risk environments.
- Familiarity with software such as Rocscience , Gem4D , or Leapfrog (advantageous).
