Sous Chef Wild Canary is seeking a skilled, calm, and motivated Sous Chef to join our botanical bistro set within the beautiful Brookfield Gardens. We’re a busy breakfast and lunch venue, we also host select private evening events and weddings. This position is hands-on and leadership focused. You’ll work closely with our experienced and supportive Head Chef, ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly day-to-day while maintaining high standards, efficient systems, and a positive team culture. About Wild Canary Wild Canary is a botanically inspired bistro known for fresh, local, seasonal produce and a warm, professional hospitality style. We’re an established and respected venue with a talented team, exciting event offerings, and a strong commitment to growth, creativity, and quality. Role Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day kitchen operations
- Run the pass during busy breakfast and lunch service
- Oversee prep systems, organisation, and consistency
- Manage ordering, stock levels, and supplier relationships
- Uphold food safety and compliance
- Train, support, and mentor the kitchen team
- Contribute to seasonal menu development
- Maintain waste management and portion control Ideal Background
- Experienced Chef de Partie ready to step up, or a Sous Chef seeking a well-structured, quality-focused role
- Solid organisational skills and prep systems
- Positive leader with excellent communication
- Calm under pressure and committed to high standards
