- Status: Full-time, ongoing The Northern Land Council (NLC) is looking for a Youth Engagement Coordinator to support Aboriginal young people aged 18–25 to join and succeed in our Caring for Country Ranger Program. About the role: This role is about building confidence, creating opportunities and helping young people move into training, work and long-term careers on country. You’ll work closely with ranger groups, communities, schools and training providers to support young people through mentoring, practical activities and employment pathways. The successful candidate will support and mentor young Aboriginal people entering ranger programs, coordinate traineeships, youth activities and build strong relationships with communities, schools and training organisations. A major part of the role will be to help young people develop workplace skills and confidence, organise travel, accommodation, equipment and on-country activities. - Enjoys working with young people and communities.
- Understands Aboriginal culture and remote community life
- Has experience in youth work, mentoring, training or community program.
- Can communicate clearly and build valuable relationships.
- Is organised and able to manage day-to-day activities.
- Is willing to travel to remote areas. In addition to this, you will have the following:

- Relevant tertiary qualification in youth work, community development, social sciences, Indigenous studies or 3 years’ experience in delivering on-country projects, including working with Aboriginal ranger groups.
- Experience leading, supervising or mentoring staff in a culturally safe environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal culture, kinship systems and community contexts in the Northern Territory.
- A Valid Working with Children check (Ochre card) or ability to obtain one. For a full copy of the Position Description refer to the link provided below. What’s in it for you? This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to on-country programs while supporting the next generation of Aboriginal rangers and land managers. We offer:
- A base salary of $84,985 per annum plus 15% superannuation on base and DA
- Salary sacrificing up to $15,900 + Meal Entertainment and Holiday Accommodation benefit up to $2,650 per year.
- Other benefits under our Enterprise Agreement include:
- District allowance of up to $4,884 (DA2) per annum for individuals with dependents and $2,678 (DA1) without dependents;
- Generous leave provisions such as 5 weeks annual leave, leave loadingand 18 days personal leave;
- Paid Christmas close down;
- Upon completion of 12 months of service, an Annual airfare allowance with a net (in hand) value of $3,177.
