About the Chance
Parkes Shire Council is looking for a Backhoe Operator to join the Infrastructure team. In this role you will operate and maintain the Council’s backhoe in a secure and effective manner to support the construction and maintenance of Council infrastructure. You will also operate other plant as required and assist with civil works including sewer repairs, broken mains and treatment plant maintenance.
To Be Successful In This Position You Will Need
Current and maintained NSW Driver's Licence
SafeWork NSW Construction induction (White Card)
Traffic Control Qualifications: Traffic Controller and Implementation of Traffic Control plan
It will be highly favourable if you possess any of the following:
Certificate III in Civil Construction
Plant Operation certificates
Current First Aid Certificate

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Parkes Shire Council's policies and conditions of employment. The role has been evaluated as being Grade 6 of the Council's salary structure with a commencing salary of $59,708.75 ($30.22 to $34.75 per hour). The commencing salary will be determined upon the qualifications, skills and experience of the successful candidates.
Additional Adverse Working Conditions Allowance of 51 cents per hour ($19.49 per week)
38 hour working week and a fortnightly rostered day off (RDO)
Four weeks of Annual Leave per year
Access to Long Service Leave after five years
Access to salary packaging options through Salary Packaging Australia (SPA)
Wellness Programs and Health and Wellbeing initiatives including two (2) Health and Wellness days off per year
