Key Responsibilities
- Drive a vehicle while ensuring a high level of professionalism, safety, and reliability during the collection of donated food.
- Perform routine vehicle checks – tyres, fuel level, oil, and water – before each shift; report any issues and coordinate required repairs with the Corps Officer.
- Log vehicle activity in the vehicle logbook and wear a valid identification badge at all times.
- Unload donated food, stock shelves and fridge/freezer, assemble food packs as required, and assist with food distribution during market days. Qualifications and Skills
- Current C class driver’s licence and experience driving a small van (preferred).
- Customer service experience (highly regarded).
- Motivated, reliable, and able to self‑manage in a team setting.
- Ethical conduct, respect for cultural diversity, and ability to communicate effectively with varied audiences.
- Resilience to remain calm in challenging situations.
- Commitment to workplace safety and well‑being. Background Check Requirements Because this role involves operating a Salvation Army vehicle and interacting with community members, the following checks are required: a Police Check, Working With Children Check, and for some volunteer positions, a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check. Time Commitment Monday to Friday, with various hours between 8am and 2pm.
