$161,696 pa. Package includes salary from $129,464 to $142,665, plus employer's contribution to superannuation of 12% and annual leave loading. About us The NSW Police Force (NSWPF) is one of the largest police forces in the western world, with more than 20,000 employees, including more than 4,000 administrative employees who support the sworn officers that provide a range of law and order services 24 hours a day, seven days a week to the socially, geographically and culturally diverse community of NSW. About the role The Application Developer will be part of the Data Science Team, Technology and Communication Services Command. The role contributes to the development, implementation and support of software, web, and multi‑media applications that facilitate the achievement of business outcomes and improve business efficiencies and processes through leveraging technology. Primary responsibilities include:
- Planning and developing data science applications that are integrated into operational systems.
- Building, debugging, monitoring and maintaining deployed solutions, ensuring code governance and quality.
- Collaborating with business stakeholders to translate requirements into user‑centric solutions.
- Documentation and communication of technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences. The most valuable experience is hands‑on development of data science applications – not just building models but integrating them into systems that users rely on. A deep understanding of Python, SQL and modern applications such as Streamlit is essential. Experience or formal education in statistical models, machine learning and forecasting is also mandatory. Preferred relevant certifications or experience Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (data science, mathematics, physics, etc.) with 2+ years’ experience, or 5+ years industry experience preferred. They engage with clients, understand problems and provide solutions that meet needs.
