Position Details
- 0.5 FTE Part‑time 17.5 hours per week (0.5 FTE), Fixed‑Term until 31 December 2028.
- Based at Parramatta South Campus with flexible working arrangements.
- Salary: Academic Level B pro‑rata rates $61,663.50 – $72,812.50 plus 17% Super & Leave Loading (Pro‑rata). Overview Support high‑quality teaching and research in Film within the School of Arts at Western Sydney University. Responsibilities
- Teach into the School of Arts within the Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts, Business, Education, and Law (SABEL), focusing on Creative Production and Performance.
- Coordinate, design, deliver and evaluate Film units, including assessment and feedback.
- Contribute to curriculum development that supports student learning across undergraduate programs.
- Maintain a research profile through research‑led and/or practice‑led outputs, and support Honours and higher degree research activity through supervision.
- Build and maintain relationships with screen and media industries, festivals, cultural institutions and professional networks.
- Participate in School, Faculty and University service activities to consolidate the Film program’s strategic positioning. What Success Looks Like
- Film units are coordinated and delivered with clear assessment and timely feedback.
- Curriculum is developed and improved to support undergraduate learning and progression.
- Research‑led and/or practice‑led outputs are produced and disseminated in quality outlets.
- Research students are supervised effectively and HDR candidates are identified and supported.
- Industry and cultural partnerships are strengthened to support the Film program’s direction. Qualifications
- PhD (or equivalent skilled experience and artistic distinction) in Film, Screen Media, or related discipline.
- Strong university‑level teaching experience, with ability to deliver engaging learning informed by research and/or creative practice.
- Emerging or established research and creative practice profile, with publications and/or recognised creative works (e.g., NTROs).
- Expertise in creative practice within film and screen media, with strengths in production, storytelling, theory, global cinemas, or emerging media.
- Ability to integrate critical and theoretical perspectives with creative practice in teaching and research.
- Experience supervising undergraduate research or creative projects, and capacity to contribute to Honours and HDR supervision.
- Connection to industry, cultural institutions, or professional networks is highly regarded. Advantages
