Fire Safety Technician (Electrical) Location: Penrith, New South Wales Company: HIX (Technical Services), Fire & Essential Services Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent, Mobile About the Role We’re seeking a Fire Safety Technician (Electrical) to deliver high-quality installation, commissioning, and maintenance of fire detection and life safety systems across project and service environments. You’ll help keep facilities safe, compliant, and operating reliably while working closely with clients and the HIX team. - Install, commission, and test fire alarm systems including FIP, EWIS, VESDA, and detection systems
- Diagnose faults in fire alarm systems, wiring, and components, carrying out repairs and replacements
- Install and maintain exit and emergency lighting systems
- Support Full Function Fire Testing (FFFT) and ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards
- Carry out inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems when required
- Work across project and reactive environments, ensuring jobs are completed on time and on budget
- Liaise with clients onsite, delivering high-quality workmanship and customer service
- Complete all job documentation, safety reports, and compliance records accurately
- Support quoting and job scoping through site assessments and technical input
- Participate in on‑call and emergency response work as required Required Qualifications
- Current Electrical Licence (essential)
- Demonstrated experience in fire services (installation, fault finding, and commissioning)
- Strong knowledge of fire detection systems including EWIS, VESDA, and alarm panels
- Experience with emergency and exit lighting systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Experience with electronic job management systems (highly regarded)
- White Card and current Driver’s Licence (essential)Strong communication and customer service skills
- High attention to detail with strong problem‑solving capability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to participate in on‑call roster
