About the Role As a Safety Officer at IMS Australia, you will play a key role in developing, implementing, and monitoring health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies to ensure compliance with Australian safety regulations and industry standards. You will be responsible for identifying risks, conducting audits, and promoting a culture of safety across all IMS Australia operations. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and proactive safety professional with experience in mining, engineering, or industrial services. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in line with Australian workplace safety laws.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Lead safety training, toolbox talks, and safety awareness programs for employees and contractors.
- Investigate incidents, near-misses, and workplace hazards, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Work closely with site supervisors, project managers, and senior leadership to promote a safety-first culture.
- Ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations, mining industry standards, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation.
- Assist in the development of emergency response plans and safety initiatives.
- Engage with employees and stakeholders to ensure a proactive approach to risk management. About You
- Cert IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety (WHS) or equivalent qualification.
- 3+ years of experience in a safety officer role within the mining, engineering, or industrial sectors.
- Strong understanding of Australian safety legislation, risk assessment procedures, and compliance standards.
- Experience conducting site audits, incident investigations, and safety training.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to influence safety culture and best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and reporting.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a high-risk environment.
