Brake Systems Engineer – Mechanical or Electrical (Perth)

We’re currently recruiting for a full-time, permanent Brake Systems Engineer for our client, who are a global leader in the manufacture of braking systems. Based in Perth (South Eastern Suburbs), this role offers a mix of office-based engineering and site-based support. This is a customer-facing engineering role where you will act as a key technical point of contact, supporting the performance, reliability, and application of braking systems across freight operations. Please note that this role requires monthly or bi-monthly travel to site locations, typically involving short stays of 1–2 nights, with occasional longer trips. Roles and Responsibilities
- Act as the primary technical contact for customers, providing support and troubleshooting assistance
- Investigate system performance, failures, and reliability issues across braking systems
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system documentation to support issue resolution
- Support commissioning, site activities, and field-based technical investigations
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, reports, and customer communications
- Assist project and aftermarket teams with technical queries, BOMs, and system requirements
- Contribute to internal engineering discussions and support product development teams Skills and Requirements
- Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or similar
- Basic understanding of electrical systems alongside mechanical fundamentals is essential
- Ability to interpret drawings, diagrams, and engineering documentation
- Solid communication skills with the ability to engage directly with customers
- Comfortable working independently and managing workload without close supervision
- Must be an AU/NZ citizen or hold PR
