We are seeking a Safety & Training Advisor to join our team at Karara, supporting site operations through safety leadership, training coordination and competency management. This is a highly visible site-based role where you will work closely with leaders, operators and operational teams to drive compliance, capability and continuous improvement across safety and training systems.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being operationally involved, building solid relationships on site and making a genuine impact on workforce safety, development and performance.
About the Role
As the Safety & Training Advisor, you will provide frontline support across safety, health, environment and training activities while helping maintain compliance with legislative, client and company requirements.
Working across fixed plant and mobile plant environments, you will coordinate training and competency activities, support incident investigations, contribute to audits and risk management processes, and assist leaders in maintaining a proactive Zero Harm culture.
You will also play an important role in maintaining training systems, supporting workforce capability development and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across operational safety and compliance processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote and support a proactive Zero Harm safety culture on site
- Provide operational safety and training support across mining activities
- Coordinate training, inductions and competency assessments for personnel
- Maintain competency matrices, training records and compliance documentation
- Support incident investigations, corrective actions and risk management activities
- Assist with audits, inspections and compliance requirements
- Review and contribute to procedures, training materials and safety documentation
- Monitor safety and training data, reporting and performance trends
- Build robust working relationships across operations, maintenance and leadership teams
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across safety and training systems
- Provide coaching and guidance to personnel on safety and compliance matters About You:
You’re a proactive and organised safety and training professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams and contributing to positive safety outcomes in a fast-paced mining environment.
You will ideally bring:
- Experience in a site-based safety, training or operational support role
- Exposure to mining, heavy industry or resource sector environments
- Knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management and compliance processes
- Experience coordinating or delivering training and competency activities
- Robust incident investigation, reporting and administrative capability
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and coaching skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Confidence working autonomously while supporting operational teams
- Solid computer literacy across Microsoft Office applications The following qualifications will be highly regarded:
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- Qualifications in Workplace Health & Safety
- Return to Work Coordinator qualification
- Lead Investigator and/or Lead Auditor qualifications
