How the pool works Lead school psychologists and/or principals may consider applicants whose qualifications, skills, experience, and location preferences match available vacancies. Referees may be contacted to verify your skills/experience. You must be placed in the pool to accept an Offer of Appointment. An offer may only be made via this pool to eligible and available applicants who are:
- Not currently employed on a fixed term basis with the Department for the period of the appointment; or
- Employed as a school psychologist, with the Department and the position being offered is permanent, an increased work fraction, or for a longer period of time than the current contract. If you are currently a permanent employee with the Department of Education, your principal or line manager (e.g. lead school psychologist) will need to approve your release before you can accept a fixed‑term appointment at another school or location. Applying to this Graduate and New Talent School Psychologist Pool does not guarantee appointment. Lead school psychologists and principals may choose to fill vacancies using other options such as local recruitment activities or advertising positions. In order to be placed in the pool your application must include the following documents:
- Completed online application form;
- A comprehensive, up-to-date CV;
- Identification (i.e. birth certificate, passport, change of name documentation, marriage certificate). Please note we do not accept driver’s licences;
- Evidence of eligibility to work in Australia, including Australian or New Zealand citizenship or Australian work permit (e.g. citizenship papers, Australian work visa with date of entry).
- Evidence of your current registration; if you are eligible for registration but not currently registered, you will need to provide evidence of your eligibility for registration (e.g. enrollment in the Master of Professional Psychology or higher degree program, or correspondence from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency confirming your eligibility for registration as a psychologist in Australia).
- Academic transcripts: Completed transcripts (for completed qualifications) – official and conferred copies only, not web printouts. Enrolment transcripts (for ongoing studies) – web printouts accepted, must include: Your name, University name, Course name, Units completed, Current enrolment/status and expected completion date.
- Two qualified referees – one of which should be your current or most recent line manager where possible. Students and recent graduates may wish to include their university course coordinator and/or placement supervisor as a referee. Your public schools are located across and offer endless opportunities to live and work in Western Australia.
