THE ROLE Ora Banda Mining are growing our Geotechnical team and will be welcoming a Geotechnical Engineer to the team. The 8/6 roster is available FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Kalgoorlie. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate timely delivery of appropriate geotechnical engineering guidance for our mining operations.
- Provide technically sound solutions by following geotechnical process, designs and systems to ensure the safe and optimal extraction of evolving orebodies.
- Ensure that all activities are carried out to the highest standards of safety and compliant to current OBM policies and workplace safety and environmental regulations.
- Ensure compliance with the relevant mining act, regulations and site Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP) with respect to managing geotechnical risk.
- Oversee daily geotechnical operations including QA/QC of installed ground support, area inspections, review of development and stoping plans.
- Identify, assess, and track geotechnical hazards providing feedback to relevant stakeholders as required.
- Review, development, and implementation of ground support standards and ad hoc ground support plans.
- Assist in planning and managing site investigations to deliver geotechnical reports including gathering and interpreting geotechnical data, performing analyses, and making recommendations.
- Cost management and business improvement projects. QUALIFICATIONS
- Tertiary qualification in Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline.
- 2 to 5 years relevant industry experience.
- Understanding of relevant legislation and regulations.
- Beginner to intermediate level of knowledge/capability in key geotechnical software e.g. Rocscience suite (RS2/3, Slide2/3, Unwedge, Swedge, Dips), Map3D.
- Beginner to intermediate level capability in mine planning software (Deswik, highly regarded).
