Who we are looking for? To teach in a Western Australian public school, you must have a recognised, completed initial teacher education qualification. This may be a completed Bachelor of Education, or equivalent; or an undergraduate degree and a post‑graduate teaching qualification. Eligibility and Training To be eligible for this role applicants will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment, and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement, and

Job Duties The following outlines the main duties of the role of a secondary teacher in Western Australia. These are broad guidelines only.
- Delivering curriculum using a range of teaching techniques
- Encouraging and developing students' interests and abilities through creative activities
- Guiding discussions and supervising work in class
- Preparing, administering and marking tests, projects and assignments to evaluate students' progress and recording the results
- Providing feedback on progress to students and parents
- Behaviour management in all areas of the school
- Attendance of and participation in staff meetings, educational conferences and workshops
- Maintaining class and scholastic records
- Participation in extra‑curricular tasks, e.g. sport, school concerts, excursions and special interest programs
