Laboratory Operations Leader: ISO 17025 & Growth (Perth)

Western Geotechnical & Laboratory Services Perth WA | Full Time Western Geotechnical & Laboratory Services is looking for a high-energy Laboratory Manager to lead a busy construction materials testing laboratory in Perth. This is not a role for someone wanting to hide behind a desk, avoid difficult conversations or simply “manage paperwork”. We are looking for a practical leader who can build culture, set standards, drive performance and lead from the front. The laboratory operates in a fast-paced environment servicing major infrastructure, civil, mining and construction projects across Western Australia. The right person will understand how to balance technical quality, workflow, people management and business performance while keeping standards high and the team accountable. This role is heavily focused on working on the business, improving systems, building people, driving efficiency and helping grow the laboratory — not simply sitting in the lab completing testing all day. - Leading laboratory operations and staff
- Managing workflow, priorities and deadlines
- Maintaining ISO/IEC 17025 systems and quality standards
- Driving laboratory efficiency and productivity
- Staff management, training and accountabilityClient communication and relationship management
- Business development and service growth
- Financial awareness including labour efficiency and workflow performance
- Developing systems, structure and operational improvements
- Supporting Directors in growing the business Experience Required
- Strong experience in construction materials testing
- Previous laboratory leadership or management experience
- Sound knowledge of AS 1289, AS 1141 and AS 1012
- Strong understanding of ISO/IEC 17025
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Strong operational and organisational ability
- High attention to detail
