Based in our Perth corporate office, this role includes regular travel to our projects. About the Opportunity Reporting to the Group Manager
- Discovery and Growth, the Principal Geologist – Discovery and Growth will help drive the exploration strategy, including working closely with project teams to develop and implement Province Development Plans covering Black Cat’s projects to maximise Discovery potential across our tenement portfolio and beyond. This is a pivotal role focused on providing technical support to our project-based field teams to unlock value, extend mine life, and deliver high-impact outcomes across our portfolio. Key responsibilities include: Supporting project field teams by providing technical input, review and oversight of work programs, including drilling, mapping and geophysical surveys Optimising geoscience workflows, including data capture, QA/QC-driven analysis and integrated data management systems (including GIS alignment) Mentoring and developing geologists, fostering a high-performance collaborative team culture across all projects Collaborating with operational teams to align Discovery and Growth strategies with Life of Mine planning Identifying and progressing new targets through the Discovery and Growth portfolio Ensuring all activities are conducted safely and in line with regulatory requirements About You Degree-qualified Geologist with extensive (10+ years) gold exploration experience in early-stage through Resource Development projects – advanced training in Structural Geology, Geochemistry and/or Geophysics will be looked on favourably Proven track record in discovery, targeting, and resource growth Strong technical capability in geological modelling and interpretation Experience with 3D geology software (Leapfrog) and GIS systems (QGIS, Mapinfo, ArcGIS) Demonstrated leadership and team development experience with a strong understanding of exploration workflows, data management and reporting standards Big picture thinker with hands-on, field-focused approach with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills Why Join Black Cat Syndicate?
