We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate Residential Care Officers for our Supported Independent Living Facility and in the community around Canberra.
You will be highly supported in your role with opportunities for qualified supervision and ongoing support.
**The Role** Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting residents in a residential care arrangement with their mental health, social, and emotional support needs.
- Work within a team to develop a range of support plans for residents in a residential care arrangement i.e., Care Plan, Meal Plan, Activity Plan, Roster of Care, etc.
- Monitoring and reporting the daily activities of residents.
- Ensuring residents get connected with their family, community, and culture.
- Ensuring a homelike environment that is therapeutic and safe and assisting them to improve their independence.
- Managing budgets and funding for participants for cost-effectiveness.
- Assessing resident’s needs and providing support for health, welfare, employment, housing, training, and other appropriate services for their wellbeing.
- Assuring high levels of support by liaising with welfare agencies.
- Keeping a written record of all the activities of residents.
**Relevant Qualifications and Skills**
Minimum qualification of Diploma in community services or equivalent qualification in a related field. In the absence of relevant qualifications, three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications. Minimum 2 years of industry experience preferably in disability/mental health settings/aged care. Ability to form and maintain professional, nurturing relationships with clients A solid understanding of NDIS and disabilities in Australia Current First Aid certificate Manual Handling certificate Current Australian Drivers Licence
- Preferred Good customer service skills Exceptional time management skills Administrative /Case Management skills Excellent communication and writing skills. Attributes:. Caring nature with demonstrated tolerance, patience, and empathy for older people Demonstrated empathetic understanding of complex trauma and its effects Focus on delivering results based on resident needs. Empathetic yet professional approach with residents. Positive, can-do attitude and engaging personality.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $70,000.00
- $80,000.00 per year
