Mid/Senior C++ Software Engineer (Port Melbourne)

Do you have a passion for simulation and aerospace technology? Prograda is an Australian defence technology company founded by simulation industry veterans with the aim of tackling some of the most difficult challenges facing the Australian Defence Force. We’re looking for a mid-level or senior software engineer to join our team in Melbourne, Australia. As part of our team, you'll work along-side research scientists to create the next generation of simulation software tools to enhance Australia’s defence capabilities. This role focuses on developing C++ applications allowing users to control simulated agents and systems. Experience with UI frameworks (e.g. Qt), message-passing architectures, and agent-based simulation is highly desirable. What you’ll be doing
- Dive into a mix of software engineering challenges, following the guidance of the Technical Lead and domain-specific Subject Matter Experts
- Write clean, reliable code you can be proud of in C++ and Python
- Follow software engineering best-practices including unit testing, code reviews, automation, and iterative development cycles
- Use modern development tools and libraries to make the magic happen
- Work flexible hours in a relaxed, productive, creative environment What you bring
- Australian citizenship
- Currently possessing or eligible to hold a Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) security clearance
- At least 5 years professional programming experience
- High proficiency in C++ and Python
- Ability to solve 3D math problems using vectors, matrices, and trigonometry
- Solid understanding of common software architecture paradigms including object-oriented design, data-oriented design, and functional programming
- Ability to work as part of a team, including giving and receiving constructive criticism
- You're self-motivated and always looking to pick up new skills Bonus points if you
