Description Stantec has a healthy and busy future pipeline of Data Centre & Healthcare projects in Melbourne. We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our friendly Melbourne Mechanical team. The role is suitable for a qualified candidate who has significant Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) design experience, ideally working on Data Centres & Health projects.
We are looking for someone who can work independently on a wide range of projects, managing workload across several projects at different stages of completion. You will be expected to regularly attend client‑facing meetings and demonstrate strong consulting skills.
The role will enable the successful applicant to develop professionally and personally, forging a challenging and rewarding career path within a Tier 1 global consulting organisation.
Day To Day Tasks Would Involve
Develop HVAC Engineering, heat load calculations, equipment and reticulation sizing and selection, coordination, and documentation
Plan and manage projects from initial planning, concept and brief, through to installation and commissioning.
Demonstrate a high degree of technical knowledge, providing oversight and supervision to ensure successful project delivery.
Represent Stantec externally to clients, playing a senior and active role in managing these relationships and generating repeat business
Work closely with other project stakeholders, notably architects, contractors, builders and end users, to achieve efficient and cost‑effective solutions with a high‑quality outcome
Manage HVAC design projects in accordance with code and company quality standards
Delegate tasks to junior engineers, provide feedback and contribute to their development
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Bring value to in‑house design/project meetings
Contribute to the overall strategy and development of the Mechanical team and to our company culture
Adhere to Stantec qualified standards, ethics and Stantec quality procedures
To Be Successful For This Role You'll Need
Hold a Mechanical Engineer Degree or equivalent
Ideally have 7 years of previous HVAC design engineering experience in consulting within the building services industry (applications with less or more experience are considered)
Knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standards
Working knowledge of Revit and other software
Experience planning and managing successful projects
Willingness to establish and maintain strong client relationships to create repeat opportunities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
Positive, can‑do attitude and strong work ethic
Adhere to Stantec professional standards, ethics and quality procedures
