Our Urban Development & Regeneration division is seeking a highly experienced Principal Design Engineer to join our Melbourne team. In this role, you will play a vital part in helping us expand our business and strengthen our technical capabilities. You will provide technical leadership, support junior engineers, and contribute to all stages of project delivery. Role accountabilities
Provide technical advice, guidance and overview of the day-to-day delivery of urban development engineering designs (primarily for Greenfield projects, including major estate works, and built-form/strata residential developments), while ensuring all work meets agreed budget, quality, safety, and timeframe targets. Contribute to project due diligence, cost estimate, master planning, functional and detailed design, and assist construction engineers during delivery; Mentor and guide junior engineers, helping to build a strong and capable technical team; Managing selected designs and internal design team to develop and implement the highest level of technical delivery through effective QA and review process while exceeding client expectations; Building effective and enduring relationships with our other teams and technical disciplines, and external organisations to foster co-operation and maximize our technical offering to ensure the integrity and quality of the overall design; Championing the involvement and inclusion of our interstate and overseas teams by ensuring a seamless part of our service offering. Qualifications & Experience
First and foremost, you share our passion for improving the quality of life and want to be part of city-shaping projects and providing the best solutions to our clients. Relevant degree (Civil Engineering) recognised by a relevant Industry Association or Institute; Chartered Professional Engineer status, and RPEV, with MRWA accreditation (SD1, SD2, WD1, WD2); Registered building practitioner in Victoria, with competency to provide Regulation 126 certificates for civil component of build form projects (preferred); Extensive industry experience (minimum 10-15 years) including overseeing the engineering aspects of a project, application of standards and technical knowledge within the VIC urban development market; Robust working knowledge of IDM, EDCM, Austroads and Melbourne Water guidelines; Experience with sewer rising main and pump station design is desirable; Ability to provide technical expertise and direction through consultative support and effective communication to the teams; Ability to mentor junior engineers and supporting project teams; Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams and complex project environment; Excellent communication and relationship building skills, both internally and externally.
